The last episode of #Picard season 2 was finally really good, with a few awesome surprises.

#StrangeNewWorlds episode 1 was amazing! Anson Mount is perfect in the role as Pike. I’m looking forward to the rest of this season.

@ramsey Glad to know I'm not the only one who'd come away with the same opinions.

@ericmann Maybe my expectations are lower than others or I’m just happy to go along for the ride with characters I love, but I’m generally entertained by all the new series. I’m able to separate opinions and inconsistencies from my enjoyment of the stories.

@ramsey @ericmann I've been meaning to bring this up recently...

I remember someone bashing "Moonfall" before it even came out based on the trailer. I believe the complaint was "that's not how any of this works" and requiring going beyond the usual level of "suspension of disbelief" from sci-fi.

I can't remember if it was you or @mwop, but I'm pretty sure it was one of you...

Did any of you end up watching it? :)

(It's been on my mind since I recently watched it with the fam)

@beausimensen @ramsey @mwop (It wasn't me, but I've seen that critique from a lot of folks.) I haven't seen the film yet, but admit I did raise my eye at the trailer.

Then again, I still enjoyed films like Geostorm and ... yeah ... in the realm of "that's not how this works" ... ;-)

@ericmann @beausimensen @mwop I was me, probably. I’m sure it’s entertaining, but I couldn’t get past what I saw in the trailer, so no, I haven’t seen it.

@ramsey @ericmann @mwop I grew up getting hyped about "ID4" back in the day. Seeing "Moonfall" being attached to Roland Emmerich set my expectations correctly. I wasn't as hyped to see it, but it looked unbelievable in a fun way. I told Bec & Luke it would be "funny," but couldn't really explain why. Just asked Bec now if I was right to say it would be "funny," and she said yeah. Based on the trailer, both Bec and Luke thought it would be more serious and intense.

@beausimensen @ericmann @mwop The trailer definitely gave me the “serious and intense” vibes.

@ramsey @ericmann @mwop If you can stomach watching the trailer again – assuming you have any interest in doing so – look for signs that it isn't just straight up "the moon is falling because our science is bad."

It was subtle and maybe buried too much in some trailers. They were probably trying to keep as much of the details about the true nature of everything going on a surprise as possible.

The clues were there, at least in the trailers I saw. Maybe easily missed?

@ericmann @ramsey @mwop LOL, same. There was an aspect in the trailer that I felt gave the movie some potential wiggle room. I don't think it should have negated the pre-seen critique entirely (it was still quite ridiculous), it definitely played out how I thought it would and in my opinion gave the "physics" and "science" a lot of leeway.
